Community and Economic Development

We are committed to the preservation, rehabilitation and construction of quality affordable housing, as well as to advancing revitalization efforts in our communities.

SPOTLIGHT: The Heart of Camden – The Heart of Camden has worked to transform vacant buildings into community hubs, including Joe's Place, which provides meals for the homeless, and Clothes from the Heart, a secondhand children's clothing store. Susquehanna is proud to support this stellar grassroots community organization.

Youth and Education

We are committed to playing an active role in supporting education, with special emphasis on support for local teachers and classrooms, financial literacy and money management across all generations, and programs which strengthen opportunities for children in low-to-moderate income communities.

SPOTLIGHT: Get Smart About Credit – Susquehanna’s Get Smart About Credit program aims to prepare students for tomorrow by giving them the tools they need to begin creating healthy financial futures today. Topics such as budgeting, credit reports and comparing credit cards are all addressed, as are tips on how to build strong credit. SPOTLIGHT: Susquehanna’s Strikeouts for Straight A’s – Susquehanna has partnered with minor league baseball across Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia to help make a grand slam in students’ grades! Strikeouts makes a contribution in honor of every strikeout thrown by each region’s home team. Since 2007, more than $200,000 has been donated to educational programs serving children in the markets we serve.

SPOTLIGHT: Teaching Kids to Save – Susquehanna’s Teach Children to Save program aims to prepare students for tomorrow by giving them the tools they need to create healthy financial futures. We understand that children are never too young to begin learning the fundamentals of saving money. Discussion topics vary by age/grade level, all with an overall message of the importance of responsible money management. Access to the Arts

We are committed to increasing the visibility and accessibility of art and cultural experiences to families of all economic means through sponsorships of programs, exhibits and performances.

SPOTLIGHT: Long’s Park Summer Music Series – Free musical performances all summer long at Long’s Park in Lancaster County, PA, thanks in part to Susquehanna. More than 100,000 people enjoy these shows annually, and the line-up of award-winning performers attracts music lovers from across the Mid-Atlantic states. We’re proud to support the Park in its efforts to keep these special experiences accessible to all.
